Lower Gate
back to overview
The Lower Gate was one of Neumarkt’s two town gates. It was also known as the “Nuremberg Gate,” for the road beyond led to the Franconian metropolis, one of the imperial cities of the Holy Roman Empire. The other town gate stood at the opposite end of the long Marktstrasse, the principal axis running through the town.
